Description:
The Music Department is seeking one or two responsible and enthusiastic student workers to serve as Office Assistants for the 2025-2026 academic year. This is an excellent opportunity for students who are passionate about music, enjoy organizing, and want to be involved with the daily operations of a busy academic department.
Position Overview:
The student(s) hired will work closely with the Music Department's Administrative Assistant, Cecilia, and will have the opportunity to help faculty, staff, and students. You will be trained by the current office assistant during the final weeks of the 2024-2025 school year, before beginning your work duties at the start of the Fall 2025 semester. You will be responsible for assisting with a variety of office tasks, ensuring the department is running smoothly and efficiently.
Job Duties and Responsibilities (not limited to):
- Assist faculty with tasks as requested.
- Provide support to the Administrative Assistant, Cecilia, with daily office functions.
- Hang department posters around campus and within the music building in a timely fashion
- Answer the music office phone and assist callers.
- Monitor and respond to the main music office email and audition-related emails regularly.
- Assist with preparing programs for the Friday Student Recitals.
- Occasionally serve as stage or door manager during recitals or other events when needed.
- Help with music department and scholarship auditions, as well as organizing audition schedules.
- Deliver faculty mail to their individual mailboxes and notify faculty when shipments have been delivered.
- Maintain the music office's welcoming and organized atmosphere.
- Greet students and help answer any questions they may have.
- Assist with assigning practice rooms and instrument lockers to students.
- Reset practice room codes at the beginning of each semester.
- Assist as a Teaching Assistant (TA) for Recital Attendance (MUSC 0990), including inputting attendance data into Canvas.
Compensation:
- Hourly pay: $9-10 per hour, based on experience.
- Student workers are limited to a maximum of 20 hours per week.
- If two students are hired, you will coordinate schedules with your fellow office assistant.

- Music majors are encouraged to apply, but all students are welcome to apply regardless of major.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Reliable, responsible, and punctual.
- Ability to work no more than 20 hours per week.
